This
page is provided free of charge to assist a starving artist to get a
break.
Donna has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She has a
reputation as a considerate warm hearted and honest person. Donna's
life has not been easy. When diagnosed in her early 20s as a
schizophrenic things didn't look too good. However, Donna has
persevered and continued to work hard perfecting her art, often
working into the wee small hours of the morning when "on a roll". Her
opportunities to gain employment are limited by her condition but
Donna is not known to be a quitter and it is my pleasure to support
her by providing these pages to help promote her work as a fellow
artist and most importantly as a good friend. Enjoy! If you'd like to
send some words of encouragement to Donna please use the address
below. She doesn't want your pity, just the odd warm fuzzy! Donna has
exhibited in her local area and in Sydney and donates her time and
talent to the promotion of Schizophrenia Awareness. Donna recently completed
this large 8 panel mural for a local politician.
Medium: Polychromos on paper. 1999
This
mural is roughly 2m wide and consists of 8 separate panels. It took a
lot of "midnight oil" to complete, but Donna is tenacious and got it
finished against all odds. Donna has always impressed me with her
single-mindedness and her ability to be earnest and whimsical at the
same time. Kidzje apologises for the dodgy image quality (72 dpi is
the best my camera will do) I promise not to drink any more vodka...
until next time. However, we'll leave the last word to Donna:
"If I see another
blue pencil, I'll bloody well scream!"
