Cilonda's Corner

This is where Cilonda is just terribly terribly nice. Just to make up for Kidzje being a total and utter pratt. Over to you, Cilonda:

The thrill and joy of life pour into my overflowing heart as I write this little piece. The immense elation of the idea of committed cynics experiencing just a little optimism in their lives overwhelms me. I'm sorry, there I go again. Kidzje is always warning me about getting overly optimistic: "No-one likes happy people!" I just can't help it, life is fun, every day is an adventure.

I'll try not to go overboard again. Welcome to Cilonda's Corner. I'm Cilonda and I'm Kidzje's apprentice in "bitchcraft". Unfortunately, I'm a slow learner so I must endure Kidzje's constant jibes about my niceness. I know deep down I have some natural cynicism but I've tried so hard for the last twenty something years to become a better and more optimistic person . I'm told I need a 12 step "deprogram"

The beach is my spiritual home. The sea air is like manna. There is something about sand and salt water that is inspiring, but my simple words can not describe the inspiration that is there. I'm getting too wordy again. (Kidzje's rolling the cynical old eyes again) I'll just fill you in on some of my "dew drops on roses and whiskers on kittens."

Fave drink: Rain Water

Fave food: Cilonda's own tofu and spinach surprise (email for recipe)

Fave activity: anything on the beach, but nothing as crass as volleyball. Bushwalking (so I can talk to the wee folk), bathing in waterfalls and of course, bubble baths.

Fave films: I love films, there is a touch of escapism in me so Ill give you my top ten in no particular order. The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Shawshank Redemption,Rocky (the Triumph of the Underdog), Aunty Mame (Roslind Russell), Grease, Black Robe, Labyrinth, City of Angels.

Fave authors: This is where my dark side comes out I think. Poppy Z Brite, Anne Rice, Clive Barker, Vladimir Nobokov, J.D. Sallinger, Brett Easton Ellis, Christina Stead, F. Scott Fitzgerald. (I'm not so nice as to enjoy Jane Austen)

Fave poets: William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Colleridge.

All time Favourite song: Ruby Tuesday.

Favoured music: 60's folk, Celtic, African, The Whitlams, Jazz Piano.

Other appealing wonderful things: My dogs, Star Trek (where every one is lovely), gorgeous frocks, purple velvet, patchouli oil, sandlewood, gucci shoes, tatoos, fresh cut grass, hot buttered toast, clean sheets when you've just shaved your legs.

There is a fabulous short story I read that I can't recall the name or author of where a woman cooks mussels in red wine and garlic for her lover and they eat them with their fingers. I think this is the most sensual thing. There's something about eating seafood, that melts in your mouth that really lets you know that Mannanan MacLyre has given you a gift that Cliodna has nurtured. I love seafood so send me your recipes.

Until next I write, Blessed Be.

After typing that, I need to take a lie down to get my cynicism back. Pity about my lunch though...
